Tina B. writes: “When I first read about the Grounds Festival Campus thinking of coming to Nassau County my first thought was of the benefit to the county would/could be enormous. Then the article mentioned the location vaguely as southern Nassau County. Location is everything! As a rural Callahan resident, my concern would be that there is only some areas a facility that large that our existing infrastructure could handle efficiently. My other concern would be the noise level, we live out here for the quiet, not concerts. I would want more information on the proposed site before I could decide whether it would be beneficial for the county and its residents or not.”
Mike Bell writes: “Without a doubt. This large, private capital investment would help broaden our tax base at a time when the county and its municipalities are financially vulnerable. Location and logistical issues around ingress and egress would need to be worked out as well as an adequate buffer to residential land uses.”

Weekend football recap — Fernandina Beach fell to North Florida Educational Institute 24-11, with Fred Jones’s 5-yard touchdown run and a Joey Santrock field goal accounting for the Pirates’ scoring; Fernandina Beach is now 1-2. Yulee beat First Coast 7-0, improving to 2-0.
This week in Nassau County football — Fernandina Beach travels to Yulee Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. in a Nassau County rivalry matchup. West Nassau is next in action Sept. 11 at Bayside, followed by a home matchup against Yulee Sept. 18.
