With the Nov. 3 general election less than a week away, Nassau County Supervisor of Elections Janet Adkins is reminding voters of a few things to know before they head to the polls.

Early voting continues through Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at five polling places around the county. Voting early is one way to avoid lines on Election Day, according to Adkins.

Adkins encourages voters to review and mark their sample ballots before they vote. Sample ballots are also available at votenassaufl.gov/sample-ballot. Voters whose sample ballot shows an incorrect address should call the elections office to update it.

What should voters bring? A voter information card is not a form of identification for voting. Under Florida law, voters must show a valid ID that includes both a photo and a signature. A list of acceptable IDs is posted at votenassaufl.gov/election-day.

Voters who have a mail ballot should know that it must be received by the elections office by 7 p.m. on Election Day. To make sure it arrives on time, Adkins recommends dropping it off rather than mailing it. Mail ballots can be returned:

  • At a secure ballot intake station at any early voting site, during early voting hours
  • At the Supervisor of Elections Office, 96135 Nassau Place, Suite 3, Yulee, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day
  • At the secure ballot intake station inside the historic courthouse in Fernandina Beach, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, is the last chance to vote. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
