Q: Why did you decide to run for city commission?

A: To attempt to provide sound leadership. A central goal of my service will be to expand meaningful public participation in city governance.

Q: As you’ve campaigned, what are frequent concerns being voiced by residents, and, if elected, what steps will you take to address these concerns?

A: Paid parking and fiscal management. I will advocate for greater transparency and accountability in how the city’s funds are spent and how decisions are made. Residents deserve “clear, timely and understandable information” about how decisions are made, how funds are spent and what outcomes are achieved. I will also advocate for the creation of a Citizen Finance Committee composed of qualified residents who can provide independent review and recommendations on the city’s financial matters.

Q: What perspectives and experience will you bring to the commission that are unique to you and differentiate you from other candidates?

A: Six years on the Planning Advisory Board, seven years on the Commission and five years on the Northeast Florida Regional Planning Council.

Q: Tell me what you would do in your first 100 days in office to deliver on campaign promises.

A: Attempt to review both the Capital Improvement Plan and city staffing. I support a comprehensive evaluation of staffing levels, organizational structure and productivity to ensure the city’s workforce is appropriately sized, well-organized and positioned to deliver high-quality services efficiently. I would also review the Capital Improvement Plan to ensure major investments align with community needs, fiscal sustainability and clearly defined priorities.

Q: What makes you a good representative of the Fernandina Beach community?

A: Experience and a sound record. I believe Fernandina Beach must strengthen coordination with Nassau County to ensure the city receives its fair share of available funding and resources. By promoting citizen involvement, fiscal responsibility, operational efficiency, transparency and intergovernmental cooperation, I will work to ensure Fernandina Beach remains a well-managed, vibrant and resilient city that serves both current residents and future generations.
