Q: Why did you decide to run for County Commission?
A: Four years ago, when I looked at the County Commission, I didn’t see someone who represented me. I didn’t see a younger, working mother balancing a career, raising a family, and navigating the same challenges so many families in Nassau County face every day. That mattered to me.
I have three daughters, and I want them to grow up seeing that leadership is for everyone. Representation matters because when people see themselves reflected in their elected officials, they know their voices matter too. A diverse board doesn’t just look different. It brings different life experiences to the table, leading to better, more balanced decisions for the entire community.
I decided to run because I believe in the principles of Florida’s Constitution, the value of hard work, and the importance of protecting the quality of life that makes Nassau County special. I believe in blue-collar families, fiscal responsibility, and creating opportunities so that my children, and every family’s children, can choose to live, work, raise a family, and build their future right here in Nassau County.
Q: As you’ve campaigned, what are frequent concerns being voiced by residents, and, if elected, what steps will you take to address these concerns?
A: One thing I always tell people is that this isn’t just about campaigning. For me, serving residents has been a way of life for the last 20 years. Whether I’m at the grocery store, a ballgame, church, or a community event, I’m listening because that’s who I am.
The concerns I hear most often are growth, traffic, protecting our rural communities, and making sure our infrastructure keeps pace. People want responsible growth, not growth for growth’s sake. They want to know their tax dollars are being spent wisely, that public safety remains a priority, and that Nassau County won’t lose the character that makes it home.
That’s exactly what I’ve focused on as your commissioner. We’ve invested in roads and public safety, reduced the millage rate for five consecutive years while maintaining essential services, strengthened our financial position, and taken a deliberate approach to planning for future growth. Going forward, I’ll continue fighting for smart land-use policies, infrastructure that stays ahead of demand, fiscal responsibility, and transparent government that puts residents first. My decisions will continue to be guided by one simple question: Is this in the best interest of the people of Nassau County, not just today, but for generations to come?
Q: What perspectives and experience will you bring to the commission that are unique to you and differentiate you from other candidates?
A: What sets me apart is that I bring a perspective shaped by service in many different roles. I’m a wife, a mother, an educator, a small business owner, and your commissioner. Each of those experiences has taught me something different about leadership, accountability, and the importance of listening.
As a 15-year teacher, I learned to solve problems, build relationships, and make the most of limited resources. As a small business owner, I understand budgets, regulations, and what it takes to create opportunity. As a mother raising my family here, every decision I make has a personal stake because my children will inherit the community we’re building today.
Over the last four years, I’ve also gained the experience of governing. I’ve had to make difficult decisions, balance competing priorities, and always remember that every tax dollar belongs to the people who earned it. I’ve worked to keep taxes low, invest in roads and public safety, protect our natural resources, and ensure growth is planned responsibly.
I don’t believe leadership is about having all the answers. It’s about listening, asking tough questions, making informed decisions, and never forgetting who you work for. I bring a perspective that is both practical and personal, and I believe that combination allows me to represent the people of Nassau County with integrity, transparency, and a long-term vision for our future.
Q: Tell me what you would do in your first 100 days in office to deliver on campaign promises.
A: My first 100 days won’t be about learning the job. They’ll be about continuing the work. As the incumbent, I’ve spent the last four years delivering on the promises I made to the people of Nassau County.
We’ve reduced the millage rate for five consecutive years while maintaining the services residents depend on. We’ve made historic investments in roads and public safety, strengthened the county’s financial position, and worked to ensure growth is planned responsibly instead of simply reacting to it.
The challenges facing families today are clear. Housing costs continue to rise, traffic and infrastructure must keep pace with growth, and residents want to preserve the character of our communities while creating opportunities for future generations. Families also expect safe neighborhoods, quality parks, reliable public services, and a county government that is transparent and fiscally responsible.
Over the next four years, my focus will be on updating our land development regulations so growth pays for itself and protects existing neighborhoods, continuing to invest in transportation and public safety, expanding economic opportunities that create good-paying local jobs, and making every decision with the next generation in mind.
Campaign promises aren’t measured by what you say in your first 100 days. They’re measured by what you’ve already accomplished and whether the people can trust you to keep delivering. My record demonstrates that commitment, and I’m ready to build on it.
Q: What makes you a good representative of the Nassau County community?
A: I believe I’m a good representative of Nassau County because I live the same life as many of the people I serve. I’m raising my family here, I’ve spent my career as a public school teacher, I’ve owned a small business, and I’ve had the privilege of serving as your commissioner. The decisions I make don’t just affect my neighbors. They affect my own family too.
I also believe representation means being accessible. You don’t have to wait until election season to find me. I’m in our communities, at local events, answering phone calls, returning emails, and having conversations with residents every day. Listening has always been one of the most important parts of this job.
Most importantly, I lead with the understanding that I’m a steward of the public’s trust. Every decision I make is guided by what’s best for Nassau County, not special interests, not politics, but the people who call this community home.
Nassau County is built on hard work, strong families, faith, and a deep appreciation for our natural resources and quality of life. Those are the same values I was raised with, the same values I’m teaching my children, and the same values I bring to every decision I make as your commissioner.
