Q: Why did you decide to run for County Commission?
A: I am a native of Nassau County. I have lived here more than half of my life and have owned a home for the last 20 years. I made the decision that our county needs change, change where the citizens of this county have a voice. We need leadership that will listen and put family values first. Family is who we need to keep safe. That is the No. 1 priority of a county commissioner. Safety.
Q: As you’ve campaigned, what are frequent concerns being voiced by residents, and, if elected, what steps will you take to address these concerns?
A: Citizens are outraged that the budget has risen 96% over the last five years, yet population has only increased 18%. Property taxes have gone up drastically. Did you know Nassau County is No. 1 reliant on property taxes in the state? The average reliance on revenue per county is between 20-25%. Nassau County is 56.8% in year 2023-24. Q: What perspectives and experience will you bring to the commission that are unique to you and differentiate you from other candidates?
A: I have been the Purser, lead flight attendant, for over three decades. A Purser requires additional training in emergency procedures, conflict resolution and crew management. Hard work, long, irregular hours and sacrifice are skills needed when you are in public service.
Q: What would you do in your first 100 days in office?
A: I will form my “kitchen cabinet” of experts to aid researching the issues and projects brought before the commission.
One initiative that would attract the yachting industry is a working waterfront. We are situated in a very strategic location between South Florida and the Northeast coastline. A desirable stop for dockage and repairs. Working with the Port Authority and the State of Florida, Nassau County could develop this area for long-term, generational jobs.
Q: What makes you a good representative of the Nassau County community?
A: I am one of you, a regular, everyday person, not a developer, not a rubber-stamp vote. I am here for the people of Nassau County. I do not have a personal agenda. You, the people, are why I am running. Thank you for your consideration and your vote!
